Denis Tremblay – President and CEO, AIEQ

During a career spanning over 30 years, Denis Tremblay spent most of it in managerial positions in the energy sector; he is known as a leader and a unifier in our industry. His long-standing involvement with AIEQ, until his appointment as Chair in 2013 and 2014, is a major asset for his role of President and CEO, role that he still assumes since January 2016. He was namely involved in the Association’s strategic repositioning in connection with the changing needs of the industry.

Denis Tremblay has been long associated with the energy sector, as evidenced by his diversified professional background. Having started his career in Alcan’s Energy Division (now RTA), he subsequently co-founded and acted as Senior Vice-President of an engineering consulting firm for the energy sector until 2007. In 2008–2009, before taking leadership of BPR Energy, he served as Director of technical assessments and support for Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie and member of the upper management committee.

From 2010 to 2014, Denis Tremblay was Senior Vice-President for the multinational Tetra Tech (NASDAQ: TTEK, 14,000 employees) in Canada, following the latter’s acquisition of BPR Energy, of which he was President and Chief Executive Officer. During that time, he oversaw domestic and international energy development strategies. He was also a member of the firm’s ethics committee. In 2015, he founded his strategic services consulting firm for the energy sector and acted as independent director on the board of a listed company. Since 2016, Mr. Tremblay has been a Certified Corporate Director (Collège des administrateurs de sociétés).

As a spokesperson for our industry, Denis Tremblay’s mandate is to showcase Québec’s electrical industry domestically and abroad.
