2000-2011
The humble story of a great association
1999
The AIEQ tabled its first brief to the Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement (BAPE). Over the years, the AIEQ deposited many briefs with the BAPE, the Régie de l’énergie and parliamentary committees in order to promote the position of its members and make recommendations on all matters affecting the electrical industry.
2001
The AIEQ undertakes lobbying of the federal authorities.
2002
The AIEQ participates in a seminar on the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol as well as the Parliamentary Committee on this topic.
The first AIEQ scholarship is awarded to a student of the Institut en génie de l’énergie électrique (IGEE).
2004
The Association submits a brief to the Régie de l’énergie with respect to the energy security of Quebecers. This results in the formation of the Coalition pour la sécurité énergétique du Québec.
2005
Arrival of Jean-François Samray as President and CEO of the AIEQ.
2010
Arrival of Daniel Laplante as President and CEO of the AIEQ. Participation of the Association at the World Energy Council. The new President is a guest speaker at four conferences during the current year in front of various audiences.
2011
The AIEQ is looking to the future and embarks on the social media. In order to successfully achieve this, it redesigns its branding and communication tools, after which it will be able to showcase more of its industry and its members, here and abroad.
Over the years, the Association has hosted prestigious speakers, including prime ministers, ministers, party leaders, ambassadors and influential business people.
