AIEQ welcomes the announcement of Hydro-Québec's 2022-2026 strategic plan

MONTREAL, March 24, 2022 - The Association de l'industrie électrique du Québec (AIEQ) is delighted with the announcement of Hydro-Québec's Strategic Plan 2022-2026. This ambitious plan, which has been the subject of extensive consultation with all the socio-economic stakeholders concerned, heralds a very promising new era for Quebec's electricity industry. The AIEQ recognizes that this plan proposes an efficient use of energy, while advocating the development of renewable resources - an additional 100 terawatt-hours of electricity by 2050 - and of Quebec's electrical infrastructure, to ensure the availability of electricity in line with the imperatives of the energy transition.

"The major orientations of Hydro-Québec's 2022-2026 strategic plan all resonate well with the world-class business ecosystem represented by the AIEQ. Quebec's electricity industry will certainly be able to contribute to the success of this plan, which responds well to the challenges of decarbonizing Quebec's economy. The major investments announced in this plan to make better use of our energy and increase its availability could contribute to the creation of collective wealth and economic spin-offs, from which all regions of Quebec will benefit".
