AIEQ welcomes Bill 69 to achieve Quebec's energy transition objectives
The Association de l'industrie électrique du Québec (AIEQ) today welcomed the important energy bill tabled today in the Quebec National Assembly by Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon. The bill provides a responsible framework for integrated resource planning (PÉGIR) and transparent project governance for the next 25 years.
"This bill establishes an improved process for transforming Quebec's energy market, and directly involves the players in the electricity industry in the electrification and decarbonization of its economy. This law will support this social project," emphasizes Alain Sayegh, the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AIEQ.
"This will accelerate the concerted implementation of the major electrification projects required in the near future," says Marie Lapointe, CEO of AIEQ. "Hydro-Québec continues, more than ever, to be a driver of economic development and the orchestra conductor of electrification plans. Quebec's electricity industry will be "present" for the energy efficiency and decarbonization projects of major prime contractors in the future."
