Playing a mobilizing role  

At a time when the labour shortage represents a challenge for our sector, the AIEQ is deploying initiatives to strengthen the attractiveness of Quebec's electrical industry to students, women and people from diverse backgrounds, while forging closer ties with associations in our ecosystem.

OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS 2024-2025

Objective 1: Identify needs between now and 2030

RESULTS 

- Sharing the results of the workforce needs study and inclusion activity at the November 2024 symposium
- Inclusion of OIQ and Électricité Canada
- Launch of Impératif Productivité study

Objective 2: Attract young people

RESULTS 

- Back-to-school industry promotion at universities
- Inviting students to all our events
- Creation of a space for students on the AIEQ website (activation pending)
- IGEE model extension launched

Objective 3: Develop attraction tools

RESULTS 

- Create branding spaces for our members on our website
- Establish links with IQI for the next generation at the EnergiQ event

TARGETS FOR 2025-2026

Objective 1: Develop a partnership with associations and Hydro-Québec on workforce strategy

  • Meetings with associations in the industry ecosystem to pool respective strengths
  • Recruitment of Hydro-Québec members to the Comité de Relève
  • Launch of a campaign in partnership with these associations, taking advantage of the Momentum around Hydro-Québec's 2035 plan.

Objective 2: Identify workforce requirements to 2035

  • In-depth study of engineering needs, with a job evaluation of the 2035 HQ action plan
  • Inclusion of OIQ and Électricité Canada

Objective 3: Create strong links with universities

  • Meetings with universities to demonstrate industry needs
  • Meeting with universities to develop new courses in partnership with AIEQ partner companies
  • IGEE's role as an incubator

Objective 4: Attract young people

  • Back-to-school promotion of industry at universities
  • Creating a space for students on the AIEQ website
  • Inviting students to our events
  • Campaign targeting students on student visas
  • Development of a digital content and engagement strategy
